That makes community practices the backbone of a Keiser FNP search here, alongside a few system routes that spell out how they work, including a Pensacola system whose school list names Keiser University.

NP preceptors from Jacksonville to Pensacola

Four metros, far apart

North Florida's population centers are spread wide: Jacksonville, whose metro reached 1,785,500 residents in the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate; Gainesville in the north-central interior; Tallahassee just below the Georgia line; and Pensacola at the western tip of the Panhandle. Keiser's campuses in this part of the state are Jacksonville, Tallahassee and Ocala, and they teach ASN and BSN cohorts while graduate nursing stays online.

Distance makes one rule firm: search where you live. Jacksonville to Pensacola is a long day's drive, so a Panhandle student gains nothing from a First Coast lead, and Gainesville and Ocala students do best staying within their own county or the next. With each practicum asking for steady weekly hours across eight weeks, a preceptor near home is worth more than a famous hospital name.

Jacksonville: Mayo's school list and Baptist's behavioral route

Mayo Clinic Florida runs a well-documented NP rotation program, but only for its affiliated schools, a short published list that does not include Keiser. The school coordinator submits each request, students may not arrange their own, and applications close on fixed dates: August 15 for spring, December 5 for summer and March 15 for fall, for rotations lasting 4 to 16 weeks. For now, Mayo sits outside a Keiser FNP search.

Baptist Health in Jacksonville publishes a student route only in behavioral health: PMHNP and DNP visiting students need clearance from their program's Director of Clinical Training, materials are due by the fourth week of April, and placements run in fall and spring only. A Keiser DNP student planning practice courses with a behavioral health angle may want to ask about it. UF Health Jacksonville posts no NP-student page, and Ascension St. Vincent's education page covers medical training, so FNP students in Duval County lean on community practices.

Gainesville and Ocala: UF Health Shands and the AHECs

UF Health Shands in Gainesville runs student clinicals through its Nursing Education department, which coordinates experiences for LPN, associate degree, BSN, MSN and DNP students. The schools it names are Santa Fe, UF, Florida Gateway, Rasmussen and UCF, and Keiser is not among them. A Keiser FNP student near Gainesville should take Shands to the Clinical Coordinator as a question rather than plan around it.

UF's AHEC network lists the Northeast Florida, Suwannee River, Big Bend and West Florida AHECs, which describe work with community-based preceptors. None publishes a service placing NP students from outside programs, yet the rural and community clinics they serve are the primary care settings Keiser suggests. For Ocala-area students the same logic holds: family practices, urgent cares and health departments near home are the realistic first calls.

Tallahassee and the Georgia line

Tallahassee Memorial posts no NP-student process, so capital-area searches begin in outpatient care: family and internal medicine practices, urgent cares, retail clinics and the health department. Keiser's Tallahassee campus teaches ASN and BSN students, whose clinicals the program arranges; your FNP search runs separately through the Graduate School's approval process.

Georgia is close enough that some Tallahassee students look north. Keiser's FNP disclosure lists Georgia as a meets state, but Keiser ties your license to wherever the practicum happens, so a Georgia clinic means holding a license valid in Georgia, and Keiser's policy manual warns that hours logged outside Florida may not count toward licensure in every state. The Georgia guide covers the details; for most students, staying on the Florida side keeps approval simpler.

Pensacola and the western Panhandle

Baptist Health Care in Pensacola takes students through an online Student Application with a category for medical, NP and PA students, and approval takes two to four weeks. Its page notes that some internships require affiliation agreements, and its published affiliation list includes Keiser University at the school level without naming a program. One summary of its student page says the preceptor must be employed or credentialed by Baptist; confirm that with Baptist when you apply, and ask the Clinical Coordinator whether the listed agreement reaches the FNP.

For Ascension Sacred Heart and HCA Florida West Florida Hospital, ask a clinician on staff to find out who handles student agreements. Alabama is a short drive west, but it sits on Keiser's FNP does-not-meet list, and Alabama requires its board's approval before out-of-state programs run clinicals there. Questions Keiser students ask

Can a Keiser FNP student rotate at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville?

Not through Mayo's published program as it stands. Mayo Clinic Florida takes NP rotation requests only from affiliated schools, submitted by each school's coordinator, and Keiser is not on its affiliate list. Students may not arrange rotations on their own. If Keiser's standing changes, the Clinical Coordinator would know; until then, build a Jacksonville search around community practices.

Does Baptist Health Care in Pensacola list Keiser?

Yes, at the school level. Its published affiliation agreement list includes Keiser University but does not say which Keiser program the agreement covers. Its student application has a category for NP students, and approval takes two to four weeks. Ask Keiser's Clinical Coordinator whether that agreement extends to the FNP before you apply.

Can I do my practicum in Georgia or Alabama if I live near the line?

Georgia is possible with care; Alabama is a poor bet. Keiser's FNP disclosure lists Georgia as meeting requirements and Alabama as not meeting them, and Alabama wants its nursing board's sign-off before a school based elsewhere sends students into Alabama clinics. Either way, Keiser expects you to be licensed for whichever state hosts the clinical. Clear any out-of-state site with Keiser first.

Do North Florida AHECs place NP students?

Not as a published service. UF's AHEC network, including the Northeast Florida, Suwannee River, Big Bend and West Florida centers, describes work with community-based preceptors but lists no program that places NP students from outside schools. The rural and community clinics in their territories can still be worth approaching directly, since they fit Keiser's primary care settings.
