Why each quote is written for one student
Two Keiser students in the same program can need very different searches. Picture one who lives among dozens of family practices and wants a pediatric practicum next spring, and another in a rural county who holds licenses in two states and needs the Integration Practicum in six weeks. A single published price would overcharge the first student or shortchange the second.
So each placement is priced from its own details. The factors below are the ones your placement advisor weighs, and they will walk you through how each applies to your plan before you commit to anything.
The quote is a planning tool as much as a price. Seeing which factor carries the most weight, often the calendar, tells you where a small change, such as a wider driving radius or an extra clinic weekday, would make the search easier.
The factors that move a quote

- The course: which practicum it is, the hours Keiser sets for it and the patient population it calls for
- Local supply: how many practices near you see that population and take students
- Your location: your home area, how far you can travel and whether the site will be in Florida or another state
- Your licenses: the states where your RN license is active, since Keiser expects a license where you do clinicals
- Your timeline: how many weeks remain before the term opens
- Your availability: which weekdays and hours you can give to clinic
- The scope: a single practicum, several, or the rest of your program
Each item changes how much searching, calling and follow-up it takes to reach a clinician who meets Keiser's rules and agrees to precept. A student with a flexible schedule and a wide radius in a busy metro area needs less of that work than a student with one available weekday in a small town.
Timing: why an early start keeps things simple
Keiser suggests planning each clinical course about three months before it begins. A request inside that window is still workable, but more of the search has to happen at once: more practices contacted in the same week, faster follow-up, and quicker file preparation so Keiser's review is not squeezed against the first day of the term. Keiser's side takes time too: the Program Director's approval and a signed affiliation agreement both have to be in place before hour one, and a site's own onboarding can add steps.
Graduate practicums run in 8-week terms, so a late start cannot absorb much delay, and that concentrated effort is the main reason a short-notice request is quoted differently. If your term is close, read what to do when you need a preceptor fast and send your details today.
One practicum or the whole sequence
Keiser's MSN FNP has five practicums, NUR602A through NUR691A, and the WHNP has four clinical courses, NUR612A to NUR615A. On the doctoral side, NUR801A and NUR802A each require a practice setting and mentor, and the RN to BSN has a single community clinical, NUR4636. For WHNP students, the Graduate Catalog says Keiser assists with sites in South Florida and that students choose their own site elsewhere, so your quote reflects where the clinicals will happen.
You can ask for a quote on the next course only or on every practicum left in your plan. Keiser costs that sit outside the quote
Some clinical costs come from Keiser's own requirements and stay separate from our quote. The Graduate Catalog lists charges for the background check and drug screen, and FNP students pay a one-time residency fee plus their own travel and lodging for the two residencies in Fort Lauderdale.
Keiser also requires professional liability insurance for graduate clinicals and active health insurance throughout the clinical courses, and a host site can add onboarding steps of its own. In addition, Keiser's policy manual lets a site or the University ask for a repeat drug screen at any point, at the student's expense. Questions Keiser students ask
Why is there no price list on this site?
The work behind a placement varies too much between students for one table to be fair. The course, local supply, your licenses and the weeks left before the term all change how long a search runs. A written quote built from your own details tells you more than a list that fits nobody exactly.
Is the quote different for WHNP, DNP or RN to BSN students?
The quote follows the course rather than the program label. A DNP practice site and mentor, a WHNP women's health rotation and the RN to BSN community course each call for a different kind of search, and your placement advisor prices the one you actually need.
Are Keiser's fees or my insurance part of the quote?
They sit outside it. Keiser's catalog charges, the FNP residency fee, travel to residencies, liability coverage and health insurance are your own costs under Keiser's rules. Your quote covers the search, the matching and the preparation of your Keiser file, and nothing on it is a Keiser charge.
Can I get a quote for one practicum now and add more later?
Yes. Starting with the next course and adding later practicums once the first placement is running works well. Planning several at once gives the longest runway, but a single-course quote is a perfectly good starting point, and your placement advisor can revisit the rest of your sequence whenever you are ready.
Does paying for a placement mean Keiser will approve it?
Approval belongs to Keiser: the Program Director approves the preceptor and faculty clear the arrangement before hours start. A placement gives you a well-matched preceptor and a complete, accurate file, which is the surest way through Keiser's review without back-and-forth.
