NP preceptors across Florida and what the big systems ask of you
Florida's large health systems let NP students in through three gates: an affiliation agreement with the school, frequently written for one specific program; a preceptor employed there or holding privileges; and the system's own onboarding. Learn which gate a system uses before investing weeks in it; for a Keiser FNP practicum, each gate must also line up with Keiser's approvals.

Three gates, and how they meet Keiser's own
Gate one is paper between institutions. Keiser requires an affiliation agreement with every clinical site before your hours begin, on its own template or the agency's form, and a large system usually insists on its version, sometimes a master agreement plus a separate letter for each program. An agreement covering Keiser's nursing students in general may not stretch to the FNP, so always ask which program it names.
Gate two is the person. Most systems want a preceptor who is employed there or holds privileges on its medical staff, which sits neatly with Keiser's rule that your preceptor practice at the site. Gate three is onboarding: a Complio profile, a myClinicalExchange account or a paper application, each with its own lead time, running alongside the roughly three months Keiser asks you to plan ahead.
What Florida systems publish about NP students
Each system's own student pages, read in September 2026, describe these routes for NP students in general; none is a list of places that host Keiser students.

Jackson Health System, Memorial Healthcare System, Tampa General, Orlando Health, Tallahassee Memorial, Lee Health, Sarasota Memorial and Health First post no NP-student route; ask a preceptor on staff to reach the education office. When a system's list names Keiser, check the program
Two Florida systems publish affiliation lists that include Keiser, and neither settles an FNP question by itself. Baptist Health South Florida's list gives Keiser rows for its prelicensure nursing, its anesthesia program and allied health fields, but no row for Keiser's MSN or FNP. Since Baptist wants a program letter for each program, an FNP rotation there turns on whether one exists for Keiser's FNP.
Baptist Health Care in Pensacola lists Keiser University as a school, with no program attached. Mayo Clinic Florida and UF Health Shands publish the schools they host, and Keiser appears on neither. Other large systems keep affiliate lists private, so your Clinical Coordinator is the person who can say whether Keiser already holds an agreement with a system on your list.
Beyond hospital systems: the settings Keiser points to
Keiser's FNP guidance names primary care health departments, retail clinics, physician offices, urgent cares and fast track clinics as suitable settings. They suit Keiser's model because one practice owner can agree to host you and sign Keiser's template agreement, with no corporate student office in the middle. Keiser's preceptor requirements admit physicians too, so an MD or DO running a family practice is a fair lead.
Community health centers deserve their own look. HRSA counts 47 Health Center Program awardees in Florida, serving about 1.67 million patients in 2025 reporting. There is no statewide placement program for them, so each center decides for itself. Florida's TEACH program pays qualifying centers for precepted hours with APRN students in primary care, but only for students of accredited Florida-based programs, a group Keiser's students belong to.
Statewide systems built for other students
Florida does run regional clinical scheduling, just not for NP students. The Centralized Clinical Placement System, operated by the Nursing Consortium of Florida, books prelicensure cohort rotations across eight southeast and southwest Florida counties, and none of its pages describes a role in NP preceptorships. Baptist Health South Florida requires it for ASN and BSN requests only.
The Florida AHEC Network's regional centers work with community-based preceptors but publish no service placing NP students from outside programs, and the Florida Center for Nursing studies the workforce rather than matching students. An NP preceptor search in Florida happens clinic by clinic.

Questions Keiser students ask
Will a Florida hospital find a preceptor for me?
Not usually. AdventHealth's medical group leaves scheduling to students, NCH puts the search on the learner or school, and Mayo and Cleveland Clinic Florida deal only with schools. With Keiser also leaving the FNP search to you, plan to arrive at most Florida systems with a named, willing preceptor already in hand.
Can a physician be my Keiser FNP preceptor in Florida?
Yes. Physicians, MDs and DOs alike, are on Keiser's list of acceptable FNP preceptors, although Keiser prefers a master's-prepared family nurse practitioner. Some Florida systems are built around physicians anyway: BayCare runs NP students through its physician-sponsored process, which needs a credentialed MD or DO. Physician assistants are not among the preceptor types Keiser lists.
What is Complio, and will I need it?
Complio is the compliance-tracking platform Baptist Health South Florida and Broward Health name for student rotations. Baptist accepts clinical requests only through it and wants your profile complete at least 10 business days before a rotation starts. Keiser's graduate documents name no tracker of their own, so ask the Clinical Coordinator how a site's platform requirement is handled.
How early should I contact a Florida health system?
Sooner than Keiser's three months when a system is involved. BayCare asks four to six months ahead on DNP and MSN project requests, Broward Health's medical-student agreements run 90 to 120 days, and Mayo keeps fixed semester deadlines. Independent practices can move faster, but the affiliation agreement still has to be signed before your first clinical hour.
