NP preceptors in Orlando, Daytona Beach and the Space Coast
Central Florida's largest system spells out its NP-student route more plainly than most: at AdventHealth you find a preceptor on its medical staff, then file an APRN Student Application at least two weeks before you start. Orlando Health, HCA Florida's hospitals and Health First say far less in public, so a Keiser search here pairs AdventHealth's process with community practices close to home.

Orlando in the middle, a coast on each side
The Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford metro held 2,957,672 people in the Census Bureau's 2025 estimate. Keiser's Central Florida nursing campuses are in Orlando, Daytona Beach and Melbourne. Daytona Beach faces the Atlantic to the northeast of Orlando and Melbourne anchors the Space Coast to the southeast, and each is a real drive from downtown.
Commute planning in Central Florida is about which corridor you live on. Kissimmee, Sanford and the western suburbs each feed into Orlando along different highways, so a practice across town can cost as much time as one in the next county. AdventHealth: you find the preceptor, then apply
AdventHealth Central Florida, covering Orlando and its other campuses in the region, posts a 2024 APRN Student Application meant for student experiences that call for physician supervision. The steps are clear. You search for a preceptor by specialty through AdventHealth's Orlando and Medical Group directories; that preceptor must be a current member of the AdventHealth medical staff and signs your application; and the finished form has to reach AdventHealth two weeks or more before your first day.
Two conditions stand behind the form. AdventHealth verifies a fully executed academic affiliation agreement before it grants clinical permissions, and its medical group states that it does not schedule on behalf of students. The form itself never mentions Keiser. An AdventHealth community-benefit post from July 2018 lists Keiser among the nursing programs whose students it trains, which says nothing specific about the FNP, so ask the Clinical Coordinator what agreement, if any, covers your program.
Orlando Health and HCA Florida hospitals
Orlando Health's public student page is built around externships for student nurses, with applications due by October 7, 2026 for a February 8, 2027 start, and it names an Academic Partnerships office. There is no page for NP students from outside programs, so that office is where a question about hosting a Keiser FNP student would go, ideally raised by a preceptor who already practices there.
HCA Florida sets its student rules facility by facility. The Central Florida page on record belongs to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital in Sanford. It insists on an affiliation agreement, wants the school's placement request a month or more ahead and its paperwork two weeks out, and steers students away from reaching out to the hospital themselves. Read that as a school-to-hospital request: give your lead to Keiser and let the request travel from there.
Daytona Beach, Melbourne and the Space Coast
Health First, the Melbourne-based system on the Space Coast, posts no NP-student process, which tilts Brevard County searches toward independent practices. Family and internal medicine offices, urgent cares, retail clinics and health departments are all settings Keiser lists for FNP students, and each can agree to host you and sign an affiliation agreement one site at a time. The same outpatient settings are the first place to look in Daytona Beach and the rest of Volusia County. Check each clinician against Keiser's preceptor requirements before you ask.
Keiser's Daytona Beach and Melbourne campuses both teach ASN and BSN students, whose clinical rotations those programs arrange. That work runs separately from your FNP search, which stays yours as a Graduate School student even with a Keiser campus down the road.
Two sets of paperwork, one practicum
A Central Florida placement often means two approval tracks running side by side. Keiser needs the Preceptor/Mentor Information Form with the preceptor's CV or resume and license and certification, a signed affiliation agreement, and your plan with clinical days and dates. A system such as AdventHealth adds its own application, signatures and deadline. Keep both on one calendar, with Keiser's planning window of about three months at the front and the system's two-week or one-month cutoffs near the end.
Order matters because Keiser's approval and the system's permissions rest on the same agreement. Confirm early whether Keiser already has one with the system; if one has to be written, that step sets the pace for everything else. Does AdventHealth assign preceptors to NP students?
No. AdventHealth's APRN student application has the student search for a preceptor by specialty, and its medical group says it does not schedule on behalf of students. The preceptor must be current AdventHealth medical staff and sign the application, which is due two weeks or more ahead, after AdventHealth verifies an executed affiliation agreement with your school.
Is AdventHealth's APRN application the same as Keiser's preceptor form?
No. They are separate documents for separate approvals. AdventHealth's application grants clinical permissions inside its system. Keiser's Preceptor/Mentor Information Form, with the preceptor's CV or resume and license and certification, goes to Keiser's Clinical Faculty or Clinical Coordinator so the Program Director can approve the preceptor. Plan on completing both.
Can I call an HCA Florida hospital near Orlando about a rotation?
HCA Florida Lake Monroe's student page steers students away from approaching the hospital themselves; the school sends the request a month or more in advance. Other HCA facilities post their own pages and may differ. Pass any HCA preceptor lead to Keiser's Clinical Coordinator and let the request run from school to hospital.
Does Orlando Health have an NP student program?
Not a public one. Its student nurse page covers externships for nursing students and names an Academic Partnerships office, but it describes no process for NP students. If an Orlando Health clinician agrees to take you on, that office is the likely place to ask about an agreement, with Keiser's Clinical Coordinator involved from the start.
I live on the Space Coast. Should I look in Orlando?
Start on the coast. Health First posts no NP-student route, but independent family practices, urgent cares and retail clinics in Brevard County can host a Keiser student under a site agreement. A 120-hour course needs about two clinic days a week for eight weeks, so an inland commute adds up quickly. Widen the search to Orlando only if local options run thin.
