Arkansas sits in the meets column of Keiser's November 2025 FNP licensure disclosure and is missing from the Graduate School FAQ's restriction list, so on Keiser's own paper the family nurse practitioner route is open. You would carry a Florida RN license plus an Arkansas or multistate license, train with a preceptor near home, and travel to Fort Lauderdale twice for residencies.

Your licenses and Arkansas practice law

Arkansas's State Board of Nursing licenses RNs and APRNs, and Arkansas is a Nurse Licensure Compact state (NCSBN dates its implementation to January 2018), so an Arkansas multistate license already lets you practice in other compact states, Florida included. Keiser's catalog, though, lists a Florida RN license, active with no restrictions, as well as a license for the state hosting your clinicals, so ask admissions whether your multistate license settles the Florida piece. AANP groups Arkansas with the reduced practice states. Once licensed, an Arkansas NP works under a regulated physician agreement covering at least part of practice, and certain drugs need a physician protocol before an NP can prescribe them. Arkansas has not adopted the APRN Compact.

Is there an Arkansas approval step for out-of-state programs?

Research found no Arkansas board rule or posted guidance asking an out-of-state school for approval before a clinical-only placement. The board's pre-licensure standards apply to outside institutions only when they set up a new Arkansas program, and its APRN rules rely on national accreditation. The Board itself has not confirmed that interpretation.

Arkansas's Nurse Practice Act excuses students from licensure only for work that is part of a program the Arkansas board has approved. Keiser handles this through its license requirement, so your Arkansas or multistate RN license needs to stay current and unencumbered from your first course to your last.

A second Keiser condition is a written statement from your home state confirming that it allows the clinical rotations and will license you as an NP after graduation. Keiser's policy manual also flags that practicum hours completed beyond Florida may not be accepted for licensure in some states. Ask the Arkansas board for that answer in writing; the out-of-state guide covers the rest.

Arkansas metros and settings for a practicum

Greater Little Rock, with North Little Rock and Conway, is the state's biggest market. UAMS Health, Baptist Health and CommonSpirit's CHI St. Vincent all operate there. Mercy has a hospital in Northwest Arkansas, where Fayetteville, Springdale and Rogers form the second metro, and another in Fort Smith, whose metro reaches into Oklahoma. Jonesboro rounds out the northeast.

These are examples of where clinicians practice, not sites with Keiser agreements. Any practice you choose needs Keiser's approval of your preceptor and a signed affiliation agreement first.

Match settings to courses. The pediatric practicum, NUR604A, points toward a children's setting such as Arkansas Children's, and the women's health practicum needs an OB-GYN or women's health clinic.

Residency travel and timing

Fort Lauderdale hosts two required in-person sessions: a Friday-to-Sunday stretch during advanced assessment and a Saturday-Sunday pair of days late in the program, in the Integration Practicum. Airfare and hotel are yours to arrange. The second trip falls in your heaviest clinical term, so plan the preceptor's schedule around it. Details are in the residency guide.

Keiser advises starting the preceptor search about three months before a course. The search is the student's; Keiser approves, contracts and supervises.

Questions Keiser students ask

Can I enroll in Keiser's FNP while living in Arkansas?

Keiser's FNP disclosure from November 2025 files Arkansas under 'meets', and Arkansas is not among the thirteen places the Graduate School FAQ restricts. Because those two Keiser documents name different states elsewhere, and because admission rests with Keiser, check your own case with the Graduate School first.

Does the Arkansas Board of Nursing need to hear from Keiser before my practicum?

Research found nothing in Arkansas requiring an out-of-state school to clear clinical-only placements with the board, though board staff did not confirm it. Keiser separately wants written word from your home state on rotations and later NP licensure, so one early contact with the Arkansas board answers both.

Do Arkansas preceptors get a tax credit or stipend for teaching?

Nothing of the kind turned up for Arkansas in research. Keiser's preceptors give their time as volunteers, with no payment listed by Keiser, so what an Arkansas clinician gains is the chance to teach and a student whose approval paperwork is already organized.

Could my clinicals happen across the line in Oklahoma or Missouri?

Keiser asks for a license wherever your clinicals happen, so a site across the border brings that state's rules and its standing on Keiser's lists.
