A Missouri nurse's guide to Keiser's graduate programs
Missouri carries a meets rating on Keiser's November 2025 FNP disclosure and does not appear on the Graduate School's restriction list. No approval step from the state board turned up for visiting programs, so the real planning is about your licenses, a market where every NP works with a physician, and two big metros that spill into neighboring states.

Keiser programs through a Missouri lens
Missouri residents most often ask about four Keiser programs, and each handles an out-of-Florida student its own way.

The lists agree on Missouri, yet admission remains Keiser's decision, so confirm with the Graduate School first. The DNP and RN to BSN guides cover eligibility for those two.
The Missouri board: no approval rule on record
Nothing located in the Missouri board's rules or guidance obliges a school from another state to seek permission or send notice before its students start Missouri clinicals. Chapter 2 of the board's rules (20 CSR 2200-2) speaks to programs the board itself approves. RSMo 335.081(6)(a) lets students enrolled at approved nursing schools practice under supervision without a Missouri license, yet it never says whether a school from another state counts, and the board was not asked directly.
Compact membership came by statute (RSMo 335.360, in force from July 2017), with implementation in January 2018, so a Missouri resident's multistate license also works across other compact states. Keiser still requires an active, unrestricted Florida RN license next to it, as the Florida license guide explains. Keiser's policy manual also makes you responsible for confirming that your board accepts hours earned outside Florida, a question that folds neatly into the written home-state verification Keiser collects.
Collaborative practice and the preceptor tax credit
Missouri lands in AANP's restricted tier. A Missouri NP's collaborative practice arrangement with a physician never lapses; it lasts a whole career, and attached to it are rules on chart review, ratios and controlled-substance prescribing. Behind every Missouri NP, then, stands a collaborating physician, which widens your list: Keiser prefers a master's-prepared FNP as preceptor but also accepts MDs and DOs.
A Missouri tax credit for preceptors has existed since January 2023, but its beneficiaries are in-state doctors and PAs, and only when the learner is a Missouri medical or physician assistant student in a primary care rotation. NPs cannot claim it and nursing students do not qualify anyone for it, so the credit plays no role in a Keiser placement. Keiser's preceptors take students as volunteers.
St. Louis, Kansas City and two state lines
Counting Missouri residents only, the St. Louis metro holds about 2.1 million people and Kansas City about 1.3 million; Springfield and Columbia come next. Mercy, CoxHealth, BJC HealthCare, MU Health Care and SSM Health are the large systems, named here purely as examples of where a practicum might run. Each site signs an affiliation agreement with Keiser before any hours count.
Both big metros straddle a border, and the far side plays by different rules. Kansas is on the Graduate School FAQ restriction list, and its board checks for at least 750 role clinical hours in students admitted after March 1, 2025. Illinois, a non-compact state, makes visiting programs submit a set of documents before placing student nurses; whether that covers graduate programs is unclear, and Keiser's standing was not checked. How we run a Missouri search
Keiser leaves the search to FNP students, wants the plan in place about three months before each practicum, and calls you to Fort Lauderdale twice, for three days during NUR671 and two during the final Integration Practicum. The residency guide covers timing.

Questions Keiser students ask
Must an out-of-state program register with Missouri before clinicals?
Research found nothing of the kind. The Missouri board's program rules concern programs it approves, and the statute's student exemption does not address schools from other states. The board was not contacted, so put the question to it when you gather the home-state verification Keiser needs.
What about a clinic on the Kansas side of the Kansas City metro?
Check with Keiser first. Kansas appears on the Graduate School FAQ restriction list, and the Kansas board reviews programs at licensure, looking for at least 750 role clinical hours in students admitted after March 1, 2025. Any Kansas site would also need a license valid in Kansas.
Does Missouri's preceptor tax credit cover NP preceptors?
No. The credit is reserved for in-state doctors and PAs who teach Missouri medical or physician assistant students in primary care. NP preceptors cannot claim it, and a physician taking a Keiser FNP student would not meet its terms either, because the learner is neither a medical nor a PA student.
Can I do my Keiser practicum at the Missouri clinic where I work?
Keiser's Graduate School FAQ allows it under conditions: the rotation happens in a different department, your preceptor is not your immediate supervisor, and the hours fall outside your normal shifts.
