Kansas residents and Keiser University's FNP
Kansas raises a numbers question most states do not. Keiser's November 2025 disclosure says the FNP meets Kansas requirements, yet the Graduate School FAQ restricts Kansas, and the Kansas State Board of Nursing wants 750 hours of clinical time in the role and population from APRN students admitted after March 1, 2025. The hour check Kansas applicants should see first
No Kansas filing stands between you and enrollment, because KSBN does not pre-approve online APRN programs from other states. The scrutiny arrives at the end, when a graduate of such a program seeks Kansas APRN licensure. KSBN then checks for national accreditation, a credit total of at least 45, three credits or more in each of the advanced trio of pharmacology, health assessment and pathophysiology, and enough clinical hours in the role and population.
That hour floor moved in 2025. Students whose admission predates March 1, 2025 need 500 hours; later admits need 750. Every FNP total Keiser has published sits below 750, and so do both WHNP figures. Keiser's clinical hours page explains how each total is built.

Where Kansas sits on Keiser's two lists
Keiser's November 2025 FNP disclosure groups Kansas with the states where the program meets educational requirements. Its Graduate School FAQ, in contrast, names Kansas in the current MSN, FNP and DNP restrictions. Neither page gives a reason.
Keiser also wants applicants from outside Florida to show in writing that their state permits the rotations and NP licensure after graduation, and its 2023 policy manual cautions that hours earned outside Florida may not count toward licensure in some states. Clinical rules, compact status and Kansas systems
KSBN's guidance treats an APRN student in a Kansas clinic as working on an RN license the state honors, either Kansas-issued or multistate; Kansas joined the compact on July 1, 2019. KSBN wants the preceptor oriented, signed onto an agreement and holding a Kansas APRN license that matches the student's role. Online faculty skip Kansas licensure altogether. Kansas also does not insist on faculty site visits, and faculty who do show up are there as visitors or lay persons.
AANP lists Kansas as full practice. Clinical volume concentrates in four metros: Kansas City (the portion west of the state line), Wichita, Topeka and Manhattan. The larger systems include The University of Kansas Health System, Stormont Vail Health, Ascension's Via Christi hospitals and, in Wichita, HCA's Wesley Healthcare, offered as examples rather than Keiser partners. Research found no Kansas preceptor incentive.
What may still fit from Kansas
Keiser's online RN to BSN is on neither Keiser list and is designed for nurses licensed in their home state, and KSBN's documents describe no clinical-placement approval for out-of-state RN to BSN programs. The post-master's DNP ends in no license, though the FAQ does include Kansas in its DNP restrictions. Keiser has the final word on eligibility for both, so ask first.

Will Keiser's FNP qualify me for a Kansas APRN license?
That is the open question. KSBN judges an out-of-state program when its graduate seeks licensure, and anyone admitted after March 1, 2025 must show 750 or more role-specialty clinical hours. Keiser's 2026-27 catalog lists 540 FNP hours, and the Graduate School FAQ restricts Kansas. Ask Keiser and KSBN before you enroll.
Does Kansas require Keiser to be approved before I enroll?
No up-front approval exists. According to KSBN, an online APRN program from another state enrolls Kansas students without any formal Board sign-off, and the review comes when a graduate applies for licensure. That later review is where the credit, accreditation and clinical-hour checks happen.
Who can precept a Keiser student in Kansas?
KSBN's guidance calls for an APRN preceptor licensed in Kansas for the student's own role, oriented and signed onto an agreement, and it links clinical supervision of APRN students to Kansas APRN licensure. Keiser's own rules also allow MD and DO preceptors, but in Kansas the APRN rule points elsewhere, so settle fit early. See Keiser's preceptor requirements.
Does a Keiser faculty member have to visit my Kansas site?
Kansas does not require it, and faculty who visit come as visitors, not as practicing clinicians. Keiser's own practice is one faculty site visit per semester, on site or virtual, plus a phone conference each term; the site visits page explains how they work.
