Keiser's nursing programs for Louisiana residents
Louisiana turns up on both of Keiser's state lists: the November 2025 FNP licensure disclosure rates it "does not meet," and the Graduate School FAQ names it under MSN, FNP and DNP restrictions. On paper, that shuts the nurse practitioner route for anyone whose home is in Louisiana. Two other Keiser programs deserve a direct question to Keiser before you give up on the school.

Why the NP answer leans no
Keiser's two lists disagree about many states, but not this one. Louisiana is among thirteen "does not meet" states on the FNP disclosure, the WHNP version says the same, and the FAQ restriction list carries it too. The licensure disclosures guide sets both lists side by side.
Keiser's entry terms would bite even without the lists. FNP and WHNP applicants keep a clean, active Florida RN license plus one for their clinical state, and applicants outside Florida produce a written statement that home-state rules permit the rotations and a later NP license. Louisiana's six-month approval rule
Few boards ask as much of outside schools. Louisiana's rule (LAC 46:XLVII.3539) makes any nursing program run from another state, graduate or undergraduate, get the Louisiana State Board of Nursing's sign-off before teaching or placing students inside Louisiana, with the filing due half a year before the first offering.
The filing is heavy: the agencies and units to be used, curriculum documents, licensing and certification exam results, and proof of home-state approval plus regional and national accreditation. Out-of-state faculty teaching in Louisiana need Louisiana licensure, a graduate nursing degree and two years of practice. For graduate students, a clinical spreadsheet is owed to the board within two weeks of a rotation's start, faculty check in weekly, visits happen once a term, and one faculty member covers nine APRN students at most on any clinical day. Approval runs up to three years before a renewal petition.
Keiser's standing with the board is unknown, because its school listing refused access during research. Treat it as a question for Keiser.
Practice law, systems and cities
AANP groups Louisiana with its reduced-practice states: Louisiana NPs keep a physician collaborative agreement, regulated by the state, for at least some of what they do. Compact membership for RNs dates to July 1, 2019; the APRN Compact has no Louisiana law behind it, and practical nurses answer to a board of their own. No state preceptor incentive surfaced in research.
Ochsner Health, Willis-Knighton Health, LCMC Health, Baton Rouge General and FMOL Health are among the large systems, spread across Shreveport-Bossier City, Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans-Metairie. Public health sits with the Louisiana Department of Health. These names map the terrain only; none is described here as a Keiser partner.
Keiser options that may still fit
The DNP earns no new license and has no disclosure, and for admission it wants an RN license from the state you live in, which you already have. Yet the FAQ question lumps MSN, FNP and DNP together with Louisiana on the list, so ask plainly whether it reaches the doctorate.
Keiser's RN to BSN is online and missing from both lists. Its lone clinical, NUR4636, puts you in a community setting you pick for 45 hours, subject to the Department Chair's approval. Louisiana's approval rule covers undergraduate programs as well, so confirm with Keiser that a Louisiana setting is workable.

Can I study Keiser's online FNP while living in Louisiana?
Keiser's documents make it unlikely. Its November 2025 FNP disclosure says the program falls short of Louisiana's educational requirements, and the Graduate School FAQ restricts Louisiana. Keiser publishes no single list of admitted states, so its Graduate School is the office to give you a firm answer before you apply.
Does Louisiana make out-of-state schools get approval for clinicals?
It does, and for every level. A program run from another state needs the Louisiana board's approval before any course or clinical experience in Louisiana, filed at least six months ahead, and the approval is good for up to three years before renewal.
Is Keiser approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing?
Unknown. The board's school listing could not be opened when this guide was researched, so Keiser's status there was never checked. Put the question to Keiser's Graduate School, and contact the Louisiana board as well if you want its answer on record.
Could I do Keiser FNP clinicals in a neighboring state instead?
Keiser's rule looks at where you live: the written statement must show your home state permits the rotations and a later NP license. New York is the only state with a published cross-border route. If you are moving to a "meets" state, ask the Graduate School how your new address changes things.
