NUR691 Family Nurse Practitioner Integration is the closing didactic course, and NUR691A Family Nurse Practitioner Integration Practicum is its 3-credit clinical partner, the heaviest of the five FNP practicums. The catalog places both in the last term of enrollment, after the adult, pediatric and women's health pairs are complete. Because each pair must finish with grades posted before the next opens, the final term can begin only once NUR605 and NUR605A are graded, and its preceptor has to be confirmed well before that.
Where the earlier terms each centered on one population, the integration term draws them together, and a practice that sees patients of every age suits it best. NUR691 includes a summative evaluation in clinically simulated environments, and the catalog's FNP degree requirements have you register for the national board exam before the last course.

The catalog governs, and its 540 only adds up if NUR691A carries 180 clock hours, so read the printed "credit hours" as a typo. Ask course faculty to confirm the figure for your term, then agree 180 with the preceptor. If faculty confirm a lower number, the extra time becomes a cushion rather than a shortfall. Fitting 180 hours around a residency weekend
Spread across eight weeks, 180 hours comes to 22 or 23 a week, well above the 15 to 16 Keiser's FNP page gives for a 120-hour practicum; even 150 hours means close to 19 a week. On top of that, the program page puts the second residency, two days on a Saturday and Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, inside this course.
Keiser's catalog lists the residencies and the precepted hours as separate degree requirements, so plan every site hour as though the residency weekend adds none. Three 8-hour clinic days a week come to 192 hours by week eight, enough for the catalog figure with a day and a half to spare. The preceptor a final term needs
A master's-prepared family nurse practitioner is Keiser's preference for every practicum, and it matters most here, where the caseload spans every age. A family practice, community health center or health department primary care clinic that sees children, adults and older adults gives an integration term its range. A family physician with an MD or DO is also acceptable.
The evaluation standard peaks. Keiser's older clinical manual sets the minimum rating on the FNP Clinical Evaluation Form at 5 in clinical term five, the highest in the program, so choose a preceptor who will let you carry a growing share of the schedule as the weeks pass. The older manual also allowed up to 60 integration hours in a specialty area with the Department Chair's approval. That allowance comes from the older document, so confirm it with the Department Chair before planning any specialty days.
If the last term slips
A problem in NUR691A lands directly on your graduation date. Keiser's older manual says a student who cannot finish the term's hours cannot expect the preceptor to keep going past it, and failing the clinical hours means retaking the whole course, hours included. Since the 2023 policy manual dismisses a student with two grades below B in the FNP clinical courses, the final term is the wrong place to take chances with a thin schedule.
If a site falls through mid-term, Keiser's 2023 manual has the Program Coordinator and Clinical Coordinator arrange an alternate with agency representatives. Why does Keiser's catalog call NUR691A 180 credit hours?
It is a misprint. NUR691A is a 3-credit course, and the catalog's own requirement of 540 precepted hours only adds up if this practicum carries 180 clock hours next to 120, 120, 60 and 60 for the other four. Read it as 180 clinical hours, and have course faculty confirm the figure for your term.
Do I have to attend the second residency to graduate?
Yes. The 2026-27 catalog lists two residencies among the FNP degree requirements, next to the 540 hours, and Keiser's Graduate School FAQ says residencies are completed in person. The program page places the second one, two days over a weekend, inside the Integration Practicum, so plan the site schedule around it from the first week.
Can my NUR691A preceptor be someone I worked with in an earlier term?
Yes, if they still meet Keiser's rules and are approved again for this term. A family practice preceptor from an adult term can be a strong choice, since they already know your work. The arrangement still needs fresh approval from clinical faculty, a new set of dates, and a current agreement for the site.
What grade do I need in NUR691A?
An A or B. Keiser's catalog requires at least a B in every FNP clinical course, NUR691 and NUR691A included, and the degree also needs a 3.0 cumulative GPA with no more than one C. If your preceptor's week 8 evaluation is unfavorable, course faculty decide whether you met the course goals.
Does the Integration Practicum need a new affiliation agreement?
Only if the site is new to Keiser or its agreement has lapsed. Every clinical site needs an executed affiliation agreement before hours start, and Keiser reviews agreements at least annually, so a practice from your first practicum may need its status checked by the time the final term arrives.
