Keiser programs through a Connecticut lens
Keiser's FNP and WHNP are online Graduate School programs with on-campus residencies in Fort Lauderdale, and the doctoral and bachelor's completion programs are online as well. Here is each one as it looks from Hartford or New Haven.

A conflict worth resolving before you apply
Three Keiser statements bear on Connecticut. The FNP disclosure says does not meet, and the WHNP one echoes it. The Graduate School FAQ counts thirteen restricted jurisdictions, Connecticut not among them. That same FAQ, having told New York residents they cannot complete clinicals at home, points them to a bordering state and writes "CN, NJ, PA"; most readers will take CN to mean Connecticut.
Pennsylvania, third in that line, sits on the disclosure's does-not-meet list as well. Since the disclosure is the document tied to licensure, use it as the working answer and ask the Graduate School to resolve the conflict for your case. What Connecticut's nursing regulations cover
Under Connecticut's regulations, a program from another state counts as deemed approved if the home board approves it, Connecticut's RN curriculum standard is met, and the home state's licensure requirements match or exceed Connecticut's. No separate filing with Connecticut is described. Those rules target programs that prepare graduates for a first license and are silent about programs for nurses already licensed, APRN programs included, so the NP question goes to the Board of Examiners for Nursing, which the Department of Public Health houses.
Connecticut rules that shape any clinical placement there
- A cap of two students for each preceptor
- Faculty coverage of one member per 16 precepted students, or one clinical faculty member per 10 students giving direct care
- A written contract with every clinical agency
- For preceptors of advanced-level students: RN licensure in Connecticut or wherever the precepting takes place, a nursing bachelor's, and a minimum of two years' experience in that specialty or role
Licensing, practice and health systems in Connecticut
Connecticut's compact participation began October 1, 2025, so an RN can work there on either a Connecticut-issued license or multistate privileges carried in from another compact state. AANP's label for Connecticut is full practice, reached after 2,000 hours and three years of collaborative practice with a physician.
Care concentrates around Hartford, the Bridgeport-Stamford-Danbury corridor, New Haven and Waterbury. In-state systems include Trinity Health Of New England, UConn Health, Hartford HealthCare and Yale New Haven Health. Out west, the old Nuvance group, Danbury Hospital among it, is run today by Northwell Health from across the New York line. Read them as a map of the market rather than a list of Keiser partners. Research found no Connecticut preceptor incentive.
Paths that may still work
Keiser's online RN to BSN is for nurses licensed in their home state, and its one clinical course, NUR4636, runs 45 hours in a setting you pick and Keiser approves. The post-master's DNP confers no license and expects an active RN license where you live. Keiser decides eligibility for both, so confirm before enrolling. New Yorkers eyeing Connecticut clinicals should read the New York page and ask Keiser which bordering states it accepts today.
