Keiser's online FNP from Wyoming: notice, contracts and preceptors
Wyoming sits among the "meets" states on Keiser's November 2025 FNP disclosure, while Keiser's Graduate School FAQ lists no Wyoming restriction. The Wyoming State Board of Nursing asks nothing of you directly. Its Chapter 6 rules do put two tasks on post-licensure schools: a letter to the Board each time a student is headed for a Wyoming clinical rotation, and a signed facility contract before that rotation starts.

Chapter 6, from the school's side of the desk
The Board sorts outside nursing programs into two groups. Pre-licensure LPN and RN schools must ask the Board's permission. Post-licensure programs (the Board names APRN, DNP and MSN study plus RN to BSN) skip Board approval but still carry three duties.
- Standing with the state.Wyoming wants each outside program either on the state education department's registry or covered by NC-SARA. Keiser's licensure pages say it is a SARA member.
- A letter for each student's clinical.Each time a student is headed for a Wyoming rotation, the school sends the Board a letter, and a model cover letter is available from the Board.
- A contract before day one.Before the first shift, school and facility put their arrangement in a signed contract, and the school holds a copy the Board can ask to see. Keiser's own rule, a signed affiliation agreement before any hours, points the same way.
Wyoming keeps no approved-program list for post-licensure schools, so there is nothing to look Keiser up on. The notice is Keiser's to send, which makes early detail from you useful: pass your site and dates to the Clinical Coordinator the moment they settle, and ask how Keiser handles Wyoming's letter.

Full practice, and a compact waiting on two more states
Wyoming nurses have held compact licenses since 2018, and the APRN Compact is written into Title 33, Chapter 21 of the Wyoming statutes. Five states have enacted that APRN agreement so far, and it switches on only at seven, so Wyoming NP licenses still work the traditional way for now. AANP counts Wyoming as a full practice state.
Keiser, for its part, expects a Florida RN license held alongside a license for the state hosting your clinicals, plus a written go-ahead from Wyoming covering both the rotations and your eventual NP license. The Wyoming Board is the place to ask; the Florida RN license guide covers Keiser's side.
Finding preceptors across a thinly settled state
In the Census Bureau's 2025 estimates Cheyenne leads with roughly 103,000 people in its metro area, Casper follows near 81,000, and Gillette's micropolitan area holds some 48,000. Settings to consider: Cheyenne Regional Medical Center; in Casper, Banner Wyoming Medical Center, which belongs to Banner Health out of Arizona; Campbell County Health in Gillette; Laramie's Ivinson Memorial Hospital, affiliated with UCHealth; and Sheridan Memorial Hospital. The Wyoming Department of Health oversees public health. They are examples only, not Keiser sites, and each preceptor needs Keiser's approval.
Research found no Wyoming preceptor incentive, and Keiser's preceptors volunteer. If you live near a border, check before crossing: Keiser's FNP disclosure marks South Dakota "does not meet," Idaho turns up among the Graduate School FAQ's restricted states, and Utah applies its own out-of-state rule. Getting to Fort Lauderdale on an eight-week clock
Keiser's FNP has two residencies in Fort Lauderdale: a Friday-to-Sunday block during the health assessment course, and a two-day weekend late in the program during the Integration Practicum. Students book and pay for their own trips. Practicums each last eight weeks, which is why Keiser pushes you to begin arranging one some three months before it starts.

Who sends Wyoming's written notice, me or Keiser?
Keiser. Chapter 6 assigns the letter to the post-licensure program, with a model cover letter from the Board to work from. Your part is to give Keiser your site, preceptor and dates early, and to ask the Clinical Coordinator how Keiser handles the Wyoming letter for your term.
Does Keiser need Wyoming Board approval for my FNP clinicals?
Post-licensure programs, the MSN and DNP among them, are exempt from Board approval in Wyoming. They still need standing through the state education department's registry or NC-SARA, a letter to the Board for each student rotation, and a facility contract in place first. Keiser is a SARA member; confirm the details with the Graduate School.
Could I do a practicum in Colorado or Montana instead?
Both are "meets" states on Keiser's FNP disclosure and absent from the FAQ restriction list, so neither is ruled out. Keiser would expect you to be licensed for that state, and its own rules would apply. Ask Keiser before planning a site across the line.
Is Wyoming's APRN Compact already in effect?
No. Wyoming passed it, but the compact starts working only after a seventh state signs on, and five have so far. Meanwhile a Wyoming NP license is good in Wyoming alone, and NP work in another state calls for a license there.
