Keiser's online FNP for Massachusetts nurses
On Keiser's November 2025 FNP disclosure, Massachusetts is marked as meeting requirements, and the Graduate School's restriction list does not name it. Two things are particular to the Commonwealth: its compact law has passed but is not yet live, and its board's approval process for visiting schools reads as a prelicensure rule.

Each Keiser program sets its own conditions for a Massachusetts resident.

Keiser's two lists agree on Massachusetts, but the Graduate School alone decides admission, so ask before you apply. The out-of-state guide sets both lists side by side.
A compact on paper, not yet in practice
For a Keiser student here, the compact story is about timing. Legislation brought Massachusetts into the compact in November 2024; even so, the Board of Registration in Nursing holds that nothing changes until implementation is done, with May 2027 as its aim. The FBI's conditional nod on background checks arrived in May 2026, and NCSBN still shows the Massachusetts start as TBD.
Meanwhile, a compact license issued somewhere else gives you no standing to treat patients in the Commonwealth, and the board routes nurses through its ordinary application. Keiser, for its part, expects a license in whichever state hosts your clinicals. Put together, a Boston or Worcester practicum requires a Massachusetts RN license, carried alongside the active, unrestricted Florida license Keiser asks every FNP applicant to hold. 244 CMR 6.03 and whether it reaches an NP program
Massachusetts writes out its expectations of visiting schools in unusual detail. Regulation 244 CMR 6.03(2) makes a program run by an institution headquartered outside the Commonwealth seek board approval for clinical experiences held there. Part A, an institutional approval renewed yearly, has to be filed half a year or more before the first student arrives. Part B covers every single placement and is filed no later than a month (30 days) before that placement opens, and nobody begins until a board approval letter arrives.
Whether any of this touches an NP program is the open point. The criteria speak of schools whose graduates go on to the RN or PN licensing exam, which matches what the board defines as a nursing education program, and RN to BSN and graduate APRN programs go unmentioned. Research could not resolve how that lands for Keiser's FNP, so raise it with Keiser's Graduate School, and the board if needed, before committing to a Massachusetts site.
Should the Part B process apply to you, its 30-day filing lead adds to the roughly three months Keiser already wants for clinical planning.
Greater Boston and beyond: where a practicum could run
The Boston-Cambridge-Newton metro takes in about 4.6 million people who live in Massachusetts; after it come Worcester, Springfield and the state's share of the Providence metro. UMass Memorial Health and Mass General Brigham are two of the large health systems; Boston Medical Center, plus Baystate Health and Beth Israel Lahey Health, are others. Treat them as a guide to where a practicum might happen, not as places known to host Keiser students, since any site signs an affiliation agreement with Keiser first.
Borders need care. Rhode Island and Vermont are open on Keiser's FNP disclosure, Connecticut and New Hampshire are listed as does-not-meet, and Keiser's FAQ rules out clinicals in New York. Keiser's checklist, then our part
Keiser asks out-of-state applicants for written proof that their home state permits the clinical rotations and NP licensure after graduation, and it warns that hours earned outside Florida may not count in some states, so start with the Massachusetts board. FNP students then locate their own preceptors and sites, Keiser approves each and signs an affiliation agreement, and the program calls you to Fort Lauderdale twice: three days during NUR671 and two during the final Integration Practicum, travel at your expense.

Questions Keiser students ask
Will a compact license let me train in Massachusetts for Keiser?
Not at present. The Commonwealth has adopted the compact in law, but its nursing board treats it as inactive until implementation ends, with May 2027 as the goal. Until then, out-of-state compact licenses carry no Massachusetts privilege, and Keiser requires a license in your clinical state, so plan on a Massachusetts RN license.
Is Keiser's FNP covered by the Massachusetts out-of-state program rule?
The answer is unclear. The regulation's criteria are written for schools preparing graduates for RN or PN licensure exams, and the board's guidance never mentions graduate APRN programs. Before choosing a Massachusetts site, ask Keiser's Graduate School how it treats placements in the state.
What does full practice mean for Massachusetts NPs?
In AANP's scheme, Massachusetts NPs reach full practice after two years working under a qualified APRN or physician supervisor, and nurses with equivalent experience may be exempted. That matters for your career once licensed; your Keiser practicum follows Keiser's preceptor standards, which are the same in every state.
Could I do my clinicals in Rhode Island or New Hampshire instead?
Rhode Island is open on Keiser's FNP disclosure, while New Hampshire appears on its does-not-meet list. Wherever you train, Keiser wants a license valid in that state, so speak with Keiser before planning hours on the other side of a state line.
